In preparation for the Second UPR Cycle, The Steering Committee that has been established in 2008 to follow up and oversee the implementation of the UPR recommendations and pledges, set up a working group tasked with the drafting of Bahrain’s National Report.

The working group launched Bahrain’s National Report in February 2012, which was adopted during the 21st session of the Human Right’s Council (HRC) in September 2012. During the Second Cycle, Bahrain fully accepted 145 recommendations, partially accepted 13, and rejected 18 of the 176 recommendations it has received; and it pledged to present the (HRC) with an interim progress report in 2014.
