MOFA organizes a consultative meeting with civil society organizations on Bahrain UPR Report

In preparation for the Kingdom of Bahrain national report in the third session of the universal periodic review (UPR), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held today (22 February, 2016) the second national consultation meeting.

It aimed at exploring the views of official institutions and civil society organizations about the status of the implementation of recommendations in the light of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s voluntary report submitted in September 2014 as well as to receive their views on the preparation mechanisms for the third universal periodic review.

The Ministry’s Undersecretary, Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, urged participants to provide their views in this regard as well as provide parallel reports known as shadow reports, which are in preparation for the national report of the Kingdom of Bahrain, scheduled to be submitted in November 2016, and its review in early 2017.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Supreme Coordination Committee for Human Rights, judicial authority, Parliament and Shura Council, National Institute for Human Rights and civil society organizations.
